Tuberous sclerosis complex is a rare genetic disorder that causes mostly benign (non-cancerous) tumors to develop and can affect nearly every organ system of the body. Most typically, however, tuberous sclerosis affects the brain, heart, lungs, kidneys, skin, and eyes. Tubular sclerosis is a pulp-dentin complex defensive response to several physiologic and pathologic stimuli; it leads to an increasing tubular obliteration which enormously reduces dentinal permeability. Its typical structural features are either increased peritubular dentin thickness or "caries crystals". The TS Alliance is dedicated to finding a cure for tuberous sclerosis complex, while improving the lives of those affected.
